A Glimpse

Here are a few pics showing many of the things that have happened in the last several months. Jonathan saved up vacation time so we decided to go camping in the Smokies as a family. Jon and I like to camp and even registered for and received camping gear for our wedding MANY years ago. But I must tell you that it is quite a different experience with two little monsters. We have camped in cabins before with the girls but had help from family those times. Elkmont has no running water or electricity at the sites, and there are only toilets at certain areas around the campground. So you can imagine that Lydia's peanut sized bladder was cause for much more hiking than was ever planned. We only took one official hike which consisted of a lot of complaining [too hot (i made the mistake of having Lydia wear pants), and too tired] and potty breaks behind trees. They did like playing on the waterfall and adventurously climbing on the slippery rocks..YIKES! The rest of the time we just decided to hang around camp at the Little Pigeon River and let the girls play in the sand while we read books. The water was freezing since it was March but they actually ventured into it several times. Quite an adventure in all! (does Jon actually have a do rag on? Ha!)

Thanks to Papa Carter we did get to use the pop-up camper.

Lydia finished her first year of Preschool. She refuses to smile. She looked like it was torture to sing songs and perform the little program although she had been practicing all the time at home.

Sadi turned two and loves chocolate ALMOST more than her Dad.

For the party I experienced with Marshmallow Fondant. It was easier than I predicted and even tasted better than regular fondant. Sadi requested the Dora theme.

For the next vacation time, Jon and I decided to take a break from the girls and see the Big Apple. NYC was go go all the time, a fun place to visit, but not our preferred place to live esp with kids. That subway would be a nightmare with the little kids.
Here is one of the few pictures we got together. And of course Jon closed his eyes like normal. This was at Central Park from the little castle lookout tower.

The first day inNYC it poured rain. I was freezing and soaked, but we were determined to get in all we could. We stood in the discount ticket line and went to see West Side Story on Broadway. (Jon is not the best photographer so most of the pictures of me are blurry. Oh well it helped hide the "wet puppy" look I was styling that day.)

We tried to see The new show "Memphis." The guy at the ticket counter didn't buy our effort at using our Memphian status and Jonathan's relation to Dewey Philips (which is true btw) to get in. We were trying to get student discount tickets which sold out.

To come.....Lydia's Princess Ball Birthday Party!

I heart NYC!!! It rained when we were there recently, too. We did get in to see Memphis...LOVED the music & dancing (sad story). Is Dewey Phillips related to Sam Phillips? His g'daughter was one of my gymnasts at Memphis Centre.

Cindi & Jared saw West Side Story when they went & said 1/2 of it was in Spanish? That's one of our favorite musicals, but when you don't know the Spanish words, it's really hard to sing-a-long! :)
